The Challenge
1 in 4 pregnancies ends in a miscarriage. As a father, and a partner, I want to help end the silence around miscarriages. In about 12 weeks time (or duration of the first trimester if you will) I will cycle up one of the most daunting Pyrenean cols (When you donate, you can help choose which one) in support of Tommy’s Research. They fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents.
So follow my preparation, share this page on social media, donate (either directly or by goal) when you can, but most of all; let’s change the story on miscarriage.

Arnout Brokking (1983) is a father of two incredible boys, partner to two wonderful women. Feminist, writer, and amateur cyclist. In 2009 & 2010 he rode Alpe d’Huez for cancer research, in 2011 he supported Camilla in her ride up Ventoux for Alzheimer research, and in 2013 he organised a book-in-a-day to raise funds for child-cancer research.
How to support #misCOURAGE Ride
Three ways to help
Donate directly to Tommy's
You can donate directly to Tomy’s via my Justgiving-page. It is secure, safe, and fast. You can donate from anywhere in the world in one of nine currencies, as long as you have a credit or debit card. You can use the following methods:
- MasterCard
- Visa Credit Card
- Visa Electron
- Visa Debit (or Visa Delta)
- Switch / Maestro
- PayPal
Donate by goal
You can donate for every km I’ve cycled in preparation and for every kg I’ve lost since starting riding. Fill in the form below, tell me your pledge, and once the ride is over you can make over the money.
I’ll keep a running tally of my preparation below as well.
Offer Moral Support
There are many ways to help aside from donating. Share this page with your friends on social media, follow my progress below, etc. If you think you have a good idea, or if you want to go on a ride with me, do contact me!
